Harmon was the outer limit of the electric zone (every train going through Harmon changed engines), a major passenger station: terminal for MU electric trains, and an important locomotive shop. Shop always maintained the electric locomotives; but also maintained steam, and later diesel. Now it is the major shop of Metro North Commuter Railroad.
